The National Statistics Institute has released official figures for the 2025 tourism season, confirming what the government announced at the beginning of the year: Spain has once again set a new record for international
visitors. The country has reached nearly 97 million arrivals and has exceeded €134.7 billion in tourist spending, further solidifying the sector’s position as a major economic driver.
The Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, had already announced in mid-January that Spain received some 97 million international tourists, with spending close to 135 billion euros. Now, the final data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) details this figure and adjusts the final numbers for the year.
Specifically, Spain recorded 96.8 million international tourist arrivals in 2025, a new all-time high representing a 3.2% increase and nearly three million more visitors than in 2024. Total spending reached €134.712 billion, 6.8% more than the previous year.
The main countries of residence for tourists visiting Spain in 2025 were the United Kingdom, France, and Germany. Arrivals from the United Kingdom increased by 3.7% and those from Germany by 0.6%, while those from France decreased by 1.0%.
Catalonia was the autonomous community that received the most tourists throughout the year, ahead of the Balearic and Canary Islands. Catalonia welcomed nearly 20.1 million visitors, 0.6% more than in 2014. The Balearic and Canary Islands each received 15.7 million tourists, with increases of 2.6% and 3.0%, respectively.
MORE TOURIST SPENDING IN 2025
The 6.8% increase in spending by international visitors translated into €134.712 billion in revenue in 2025, nearly €7 billion more than the previous year, when total spending was €126.143 billion.
The United Kingdom was once again the country that spent the most in Spain, with 23.65 billion euros, 4.9% more than in 2024. It was followed by Germany, with 15.831 billion euros and an increase of 2.0%, and France, with 11.613 billion euros, 5.9% more.

THE COMMUNITIES THAT CONCENTRATE THE MOST INCOME
By autonomous communities, Catalonia led total tourist spending in 2025 with 24,807 million euros, 4.5% more than in 2024. The Canary Islands came in second with 24,431 million euros and an increase of 6.8%, while the Balearic Islands recorded 21,058 million euros, 5.2% more than the previous year.
The Ministry of Industry and Tourism celebrated the figures published by the National Statistics Institute (INE) in a statement on Tuesday. “These record figures, both in terms of spending and arrivals, consolidate the trend of spending at destinations growing faster than the rate of arrivals, although this growth is somewhat more moderate in 2025 than last year,” stated the department headed by Jordi Hereu.
“This statistical evolution aligns with the Ministry’s commitment to transforming the tourism model, making it more sustainable and prioritizing quality over quantity, decentralizing and reducing seasonality in destinations, and diversifying the offering, in line with the Spain Tourism 2030 Strategy approved in 2025,” the statement added.
