Aragon welcomed thousands of travelers in February who opted for accommodations other than hotels. A total of 44,075 people chose campsites, hostels, tourist apartments, or rural houses , with an average stay of 2.6 nights, according to data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) . Although the majority of visitors still opted for hotels (209,209 tourists that month) , these types of non-hotel accommodations represent a significant portion of the market.
Compared to January, the number of travelers in these accommodations increased by 19% and overnight stays grew by 11%. However, when compared to February 2025, there was an 8% decrease in both tourists and overnight stays.
On the other hand, occupancy in these establishments comes primarily from domestic tourism, with
39,338 people, representing 89%. Only 11% of travelers reside abroad: 4,736 people.
If we analyze the data by type of accommodation, tourist apartments are the preferred option . In February,
more than 16,000 people stayed in this type of establishment . They are followed by rural tourism accommodations, which received around 13,500 tourists. Next are campsites, with 9,634 travelers, and hostels, with 4,507.
NATIONAL DATA
Across Spain , overnight stays in non-hotel tourist accommodations increased by 0.2% in February compared to the same month in 2015. By type of establishment, tourist apartments saw a 0.8% increase and rural houses a 2.4% increase. In contrast, campsites registered a 1.4% decrease and hostels a 4.4% decrease.
Regarding the most popular destinations, the Canary Islands leads in tourist apartments with over 2.3 million overnight stays. For campsites, the Valencian Community takes first place with over 600,000. Madrid stands out in hostels with over 107,000, while Castile and León tops the list for rural tourism with over 87,000 overnight stays.
