The Zaragoza Maritime Terminal (tmZ) has taken a new step in its growth with the approval of a €6 million capital increase , aimed at strengthening its position as a logistics leader in Southern Europe and addressing the challenges of the second phase of its facility expansion. At the company’s General Meeting, tmZ’s partners—Mercazaragoza ( Zaragoza City Council and Mercasa), the Port of Barcelona, the Government of Aragon, and private partners—approved this transaction, which will maintain the current public-private shareholding structure and provide the terminal with greater financial muscle at a key moment in its development.
Within the framework of this General Meeting, the mayor of Zaragoza and president of the tmZ, Natalia Chueca , met with the president of the Port of Barcelona, José Alberto Carbonell.
With 25 years of experience, tmZ has established itself as one of the most efficient rail freight terminals in Spain and a key infrastructure within the Mediterranean and Atlantic European Corridors. Its growth has been successful and sustained, and it is noteworthy that most of its investments have been made with its own resources generated by its own operations.
tmZ is currently at a crucial stage with the implementation of the second phase of its expansion, which includes the construction of a new rail connection to the north, transforming it into a through terminal. This change will allow for more agile and efficient operations, reducing logistics times and costs for companies.
AWARD OF WORKS FOR THE SECOND PHASE
The works for this second phase have been awarded to Coalvi SA, a company specializing in railway infrastructure, and SERS, Engineering and Architecture Consultants, SA. This investment will allow tmZ to continue improving its operational capacity, sustainability, and competitiveness in the logistics sector.
With this capital increase and the execution of the second phase of its growth, tmZ reaffirms its commitment to intermodality, efficiency, and the internationalization of Aragonese companies, consolidating its position as a strategic pillar of trade and logistics in Spain and Europe.
