Teruel Airport adds almost 35,000 square meters for aircraft parking

This new space is expanded from the 99,000 square meters already in service to 133,650 square meters to accommodate up to four more B-733 type aircraft and one in the case of larger models.

The works on the parking platform (phase III) at Teruel Airport have been completed following works carried out by the Temporary Union of Companies (UTE) Trauxia SA-Industria de Servicio Ideser SAU for a value of more than two million euros (€2,120,408.51 including VAT).

In this case, this new space (the 99,000 square metres already in service are expanded to 133,650 square metres) will allow for up to four more B-733 type aircraft and one more in the case of larger A-380 and B-747 models. As the Minister of Public Works, Housing, Logistics and Territorial Cohesion in the Government of Aragon (also president of the Teruel Airport Consortium), Octavio López, recalled this Monday during an institutional visit, the expansion of the apron began in mid-September 2024 and has lasted for six months.

“It responds to the growth process that Teruel Airport is undergoing, which requires investments to scale its facilities“, the department representative stated. In response to López’s comments, Teruel City Councilor Emma Buj added that ” the airport is the most important company in the city of Teruel ” and insisted that it will become “even more so” in the coming years.

“There are many municipalities in the surrounding area that are growing thanks to the Airport,” the mayor maintained, while emphasizing that the most important thing now is to push forward the new General Urban Development Plan (PGOU) for the city of Lovers, which, together with “urban development agreements already being worked on,” will allow for the creation of housing.

AMBITIOUS PLANS IN TERUEL

This project marks another step forward in the Strategic Plan through which the Caudé Airport Consortium will invest up to 70 million euros by the end of 2027 with the goal of continuing to make the Teruel airport a paradigm of aeronautics on a continental scale. Ultimately, it represents a commitment to improving competitiveness within the maintenance, painting, parking, and recycling sectors, maximizing the life cycle of aircraft.
