The President of the Government of Aragon, Jorge Azcón, acknowledged this Thursday that ” the great challenge facing the Government of Aragon and all of Aragonese society is to ensure that investments in technology , data centers, and artificial intelligence become another of the major work niches in the Community, as has already occurred in the past with the automotive and logistics sectors.”

This was expressed during the presentation of the ‘IAON’ project, an initiative promoted by the Ibercaja Sustainable Foundation and in which the Government of Aragon , the Ibercaja Foundation , Ibercaja and Microsoft participate , and whose main objective is to facilitate artificial intelligence (AI) to be accessible, understandable and beneficial for all people and organizations in Aragon.

IAON is aimed at companies that want to adopt artificial intelligence ethically and safely, especially SMEs and freelancers; professionals and citizens interested in understanding and applying AI; educational centers and researchers seeking collaboration or training in AI; and people committed to a technological future based on values of ethics, transparency, and equity. ” Technology, infrastructure, data centers , and, therefore, artificial intelligence will undoubtedly be a major economic driver in our autonomous community. And for that, we need projects like IAON that ensure these investments generate the oil slick effect , that we generate that ecosystem,” he stated during his speech.

The president noted that “the Government of Aragon, to promote technological talent, is increasing the number of places in university degrees and STEM-related vocational training , but is also improving the courses offered by the INAEM (National Institute of Statistics and Census).” Furthermore, the regional government is deploying “a decisive infrastructure, the Alierta DAT (Technological Development and Innovation Center), which will have an investment of 100 million euros to attract companies directly related to technology to Aragon.”
