The Zaragoza City Council delegation continues its promotional campaign in Miami, where it made time to stop at one of the leading institutions in the United States for higher education: Miami Dade College. At this public university, Mayor Natalia Chueca met with the president, Madeline Pumariega, and the dean of the School of Business, Commerce, and Transportation, Pamela Fuertes.
The two representatives from this center learned about Zaragoza ‘s welcoming nature as a city for foreign students, where students from more than a hundred countries enrich their education each year. In fact, to date, more than 3,500 students have attended the University of Zaragoza, with all the summer courses still to be completed.
The mayor, in keeping with the objectives set by her designation as an educational city in 2004, has initiated contact with this institution to publicize the various student exchange options available, as well as the comprehensive curriculum available to students.
ZARAGOZA, FUNCTIONAL CITY
On the other hand, Chueca has also highlighted Zaragoza’s virtues as a functional, balanced city, highly valued by its residents, due to its medium size, which facilitates mobility. He also praised the city’s public transportation network, abundant green areas, and a wide variety of cultural, culinary, and leisure activities, combined with a reasonable cost of living compared to other Spanish capitals. University students also benefit from good healthcare coverage in a comfortable and accessible urban environment.

With this visit, Zaragoza connects with Miami Dade College (MDC), an institution with more than 100,000 students, 8 campuses in the so-called “Greater Miami” and which turns 65 in 2025. It is also a magnet for future professionals , as they come annually from more than 160 countries to receive training in education, technology, health, business, and public safety, among others. It is also a representative university of diversity and accessibility to higher education for young immigrants, minorities, and low-income families.
Its international mobility is notable, with various cooperation programs and scholarships to attract and send students to different parts of the world, including Spain, where several centers in Madrid, Seville and Barcelona host these students, immersed in areas of study such as international business, social sciences, fashion design, communication and Spanish language and culture.
