Zaragoza will have eight flights to the Canary Islands starting June 30th. This was announced by the
Government of Aragon and Binter Airlines, who announced the doubling of the four weekly flights currently connecting Zaragoza Airport with the Canary Islands, creating daily connections to the archipelago.
Specifically, there will be connections to Tenerife North Airport on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and to Gran Canaria Airport on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. This means that the Monday service will be doubled, with two flights connecting Zaragoza with the islands and one on other days of the week.
With this increased frequency, the Zaragoza-Canary Islands corridor will have more than 100,000 seats by 2025, a 66% increase in capacity compared to last year. In addition to this new development, the institutions have announced that tickets are now available for daily flights from Zaragoza to the Canary Islands and vice versa.
AN INCREASE IN VISITORS
This increase in flight availability will lead to an increase in visitors from the islands, which will surely be beneficial both in terms of tourist numbers and in terms of the economic impact it will have on the Autonomous Community.
Likewise, through Zaragoza Airport, the people of Aragon will gain connections to one of the main national destinations , the Canary Islands, which, in turn, allows for excellent connectivity with other destinations on the African continent that have been gaining ground in international tourism in recent years. Thanks to the good relationship between the Government of Aragon and the Canary Islands airline, the tourism promotion agreement signed by both has been strengthened, under which tourism promotion activities from Aragon to the Canary Islands will be doubled. For the Director General of Transport of the Government of Aragon, David Sánchez Fraile , it is ” very good news that Aragon and the Canary Islands will further strengthen their ties with the increase in air frequencies, which will allow for the strengthening of cultural and economic ties between the people of both territories.”

In this regard, Sánchez Fraile noted that “there are more than a hundred Canarian families settled in our autonomous community and a large number of non-resident military personnel for whom this commitment by the Government of Aragon and Binter will be of great help in maintaining ties with their homeland.” Sánchez Fraile emphasized that intensive work continues within the working group comprised of the Government of Aragon, Zaragoza City Council , and Aena to enhance connections from the airport in the Aragonese capital and that he hopes that the increase in connections announced today “will be the first step toward expanding the number of destinations from this airport in the coming months.”
For his part, Samuel Ferrera, Head of Route Planning at Binter, stated that “with this significant increase in daily connections, which we are announcing today as operational year-round, Binter is not only significantly expanding the connection options between Aragon and all the islands of the Canary Islands, as well as with our route network on the west coast of Africa, but is also contributing to the deseasonalisation and improved efficiency of the airport .” Ferrera stated that “at Binter, we firmly believe that developing connectivity at regional airports is a key pillar for boosting tourism and economic growth in these regions.”
Also present at this announcement, made at the Zaragoza Airport terminal, was the president of the Casa de Canarias Association in Aragon, Pedro Díaz , who welcomed the increase in the number of frequencies with Gran Canaria and Tenerife: “Having more facilities to fly to the Islands and visit our families or for them to be able to travel to visit us is one of our priorities and this announcement, which increases the frequencies between Zaragoza and the Canary Islands, is great news for us and our families, without a doubt.”
A PLANE NAMED “ZARAGOZA”
Since 2019, Binter Airlines has been connecting Zaragoza Airport with the Canary Islands and has already transported more than 210,000 passengers on this link. As a result of this merger, the airline has named the new Embraer E195-E2, which it has just added to its fleet, Zaragoza. With this aircraft, named after the Aragonese capital in honor of the connections it has operated with its airport since 2019, the airline has reached 16 aircraft of this model and contributes to promoting the city along the routes it operates with this aircraft.
The E195-E2 model is the largest and most modern aircraft in the E-Jet E2 family of medium-range twin-engine commercial jets. In the case of the Canary Islands airline, the aircraft features a special configuration that allows for a comfortable distance between rows of 79 centimeters. Its interior is a benchmark in the aeronautical industry thanks to its 2+2 configuration, with no middle seat, and its overhead compartment can be adapted to hold up to one carry-on bag per passenger. It also stands out for its noise reduction and efficiency.
