The National Police have arrested two people as part of an anti-jihadist operation carried out in the early hours of Tuesday in Fuentes de Ebro , a town in Zaragoza . According to police sources who spoke to ARAGÓN DIGITAL, the operation was orchestrated by the National Court, whose investigation is still under seal.
Despite the secrecy surrounding the operation, it is believed that officers from the General Information Commissariat traveled to this town of fewer than 5,000 inhabitants to carry out the arrests. According to the Heraldo de Aragón newspaper , the arrests took place in an apartment building on Santiago Lapuente Avenue. “It’s an area located almost at the edge of town, next to the main road,” a local baker, who preferred to remain anonymous, told this newspaper.
“It’s an apartment building with many rented units ,” she stated, adding that despite discussing the matter with some clients, “not much more has been said.” This publication also contacted the mayor of Fuentes de Ebro, María Pilar Palacín Miguel , who declined to comment on the incident. More details are expected to emerge as the facts become clearer and the secrecy order is partially or fully lifted.
