Users of the Bizi Zaragoza public service will not have to take out the mandatory insurance for cyclists (and electric scooter users) provided for in the new Municipal Mobility Ordinance , which will come into force on Wednesday, September 11. This was confirmed this Monday at a press conference by the Councilor for Mobility, Tatiana Gaudes.
Gaudes has guaranteed that “it would not be necessary” because the Bizi service already includes third-party civil liability insurance required by the Ordinance, in addition to two other insurance policies with the aim of guaranteeing “the prevention part for the administration and for the users”.
However, he stressed that “it is advisable to have your own insurance” and advised users to “check their home insurance” since “many policies include it and it would be enough.”
A regulation that has not been free of controversy, since the associations Zaragoza Ciclista, Bielas Salvajes and Colectivo Pedalea, will take this mandatory insurance to court, arguing that it harms people with fewer economic resources.
