The Zaragoza City Council is currently working on the implementation of a cognitive accessibility project that, through the use of pictograms , will facilitate communication for people with speech difficulties or people who speak another language when using the taxi. in the Aragonese capital.
Specifically, taxis will incorporate communication support sheets that contain pictograms so that travelers can easily indicate the destination of the trip by pointing to the corresponding drawing and give more details through an alphanumeric board.
The municipal councilor for Social Policies, Marián Orós, has explained that at the moment it is a draft and the final design is a little missing, but she is confident that this proposal will be ready in the month of September.
According to Orós, it is a sheet that can help a person with an intellectual disability or a person who does not control the language. The brochure has pictograms of representative places in the Historic Center such as the Plaza del Pilar, the Cathedral of El Salvador and the palace of La Aljafería.
On the other hand, the client can also tell you by pointing to the drawing how he feels, if he needs help getting up, if he is dizzy, to speak more slowly, if he wants to go to report because he has had a problem and other feelings.
“These are the different situations that a person can regularly encounter when getting into a taxi and not being able to express it easily, and even if at a given moment they feel bad or if they are hot or cold,” Orós pointed out.
The idea is that all taxis in Zaragoza will have this pictogram starting in September and implement these vehicles with some elements that no longer have to do with physical accessibility, but with intellectual and sensory accessibility.
