Thousands of kilometres separate Zaragoza from Lishui (China), but there are many ties between them. Among them, the more than 6,000 native citizens of the province of Zhejiang who work and live in Zaragoza and Aragon. For all these reasons, the mayor of the Aragonese capital, Natalia Chueca, and her counterpart in this Chinese city, Wu Shunze, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
With it, these two cities seek, as Natalia Chueca has highlighted , “to promote various forms of exchange and cooperation in fields such as economy, trade, culture, education, tourism, science and technology, sports, health and industries to promote development and common prosperity.”
In fact, the mayor of Zaragoza has acknowledged that “Lishui is of particular interest, because it is a city with a much larger metropolitan area than Zaragoza, and its population consolidation model is very interesting.”
“I also admire the transformation of the Riberas into green pedestrian corridors open for the enjoyment of citizens. Zaragoza feels strongly identified with these policies, because we are also developing projects to convert the banks of our Huerva River into a green corridor,” he added.
He also highlighted the use of green energy for economic progress, being able to share with Lishui “all our experiences in renewable energy production, energy communities, as well as photovoltaic production on the roofs of municipal buildings.”
