It has been seen by more than 160 million people in 195 cities and in 21 languages. Figures on par with one of the most successful musicals on Broadway (and also the longest-running). For the first time, the musical will go on tour and will come to Zaragoza for lovers of the genre. It is “The Phantom of the Opera”, the classic by Andrew Lloyd Webber that is making its first tour in Spain with Urbanitae. The tour has been announced long in advance and the musical is coming to Zaragoza during the Fiestas del Pilar. Of course, next year. It will have a super season at the Palacio de Congresos from October 7 to 18, 2026.
The two-and-a-half-hour show features a stellar national and international cast. Inspired by Gaston Leroux’s 1910 novel, it tells the story of a mysterious masked man who lurks beneath the Paris Opera House. There he falls madly in love with a young soprano, Christine Daaé, and devotes himself to cultivating his extraordinary talent, using all the devious methods at his disposal.
With an extremely elaborate baroque set design, smoke and lights everywhere and some of the most popular songs in history, this is the second highest-grossing theatrical production of all time in the history of musical theatre, only behind “The Lion King”. Its awards include the Olivier and Tony Awards.
It is currently one of the longest-running musicals on Broadway. In Spain, it has been running in Madrid for a few years now, thanks to Urbanitae, which is now announcing a tour of different Spanish cities. At the moment, tickets are not yet available for Zaragoza, but elsewhere they cost between 40 and 60 euros.
