The Government of Aragon closed the 2024 fiscal year with a surplus of 0.26% of GDP, representing a total of €131 million . This was confirmed by the General Intervention of State Administration (IGAE), which reports to the Ministry of Finance.
As stipulated by law, this money will be used to pay off the autonomous community’s debt with various banks. The objective of the Department of Finance, Interior, and Public Administration of the Government of Aragon is to allocate this amount to repaying loans with the highest financing costs.
Thus, the Executive has achieved greater reliability in the markets, which the DGA attributes to “good management,” which also strengthens basic services such as healthcare, education, and social welfare. The surplus of €131 million contrasts with the close of the 2023 financial year, which ended with a deficit of 0.7%, resulting in a negative balance of €326 million.
