This November, Aragon will become the European epicenter of electric mobility with the CharIN European Testival, the largest technical event on the continent to test interoperability between electric vehicles and charging systems. The event will take place from November 24th to 28th at TechnoPark, a technology park located next to MotorLand in Alcañiz. It will bring together leading electric vehicle and charger manufacturers to test compatibility between different technologies.

The region has been selected as the host city by the international association CharIN, which recognized the joint application submitted by CIRCE and TechnoPark for its commitment to innovation and the technical soundness of its proposal. This designation positions Aragon as a European benchmark in the transition toward sustainable mobility.

REAL-LIFE TESTS AND A WORLD FIRST

The objective will be to test the compatibility between electric car and truck models and charging stations from different manufacturers under real-world conditions. The operation of the CCS system, the European standard for rapid charging, will be evaluated, and the new MCS (Megawatt Charging System), an ultra-rapid charging system designed for electric trucks, will be tested for the first time in Europe.

This milestone reinforces the event’s position as a European testbed for the next generation of mobility, with a clear focus on interoperability and the use of clean energy. In fact, all energy used during the Testival will be 100% renewable , underscoring the organization’s commitment to sustainability.

CIRCE AND TECHNOPARK, KEY IN THE CHOICE OF ARAGON

The event is technically coordinated by CIRCE, an Aragonese technology center with more than three decades of experience in energy, sustainability, and digital transformation. CIRCE will contribute its expertise in interoperability, energy management, and sustainable mobility.

“The fact that Aragon has been selected to host this European interoperability testing center is a recognition of our region’s commitment and capacity for innovation ,” emphasized Andrés Llombart, Director General of CIRCE. In his opinion, this opportunity “is the result of a strategic alliance between CIRCE, TechnoPark, and the strong support of public institutions.”

For his part, TechnoPark manager Daniel Urquizu hailed the event as part of a strategy to consolidate the park as a “hub of research, development, and a source of wealth in the region“. He emphasized that the Testival “only has two annual editions in Europe” and will bring “world-class innovations in the field of electric charging” to Aragon.

TECHNOPARK

Located within the MotorLand Aragón complex, TechnoPark has established itself as a leading ecosystem for innovation and sustainable mobility. It hosts companies, research centers, and startups specializing in road safety, energy efficiency, and R&D, with high-profile projects such as MotoStudent, the 100% sustainable university competition.

Firms such as AMB Electrónica continue to invest in the park, where it is building its new headquarters, reinforcing the attractiveness of the area for technological development. Furthermore, the park continues to promote projects linked to the challenges of rural areas and sustainability.

CIRCE, LEADERSHIP IN TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION

With more than 300 highly qualified professionals, CIRCE is among the top three in Europe for R&D projects and leads the regional ranking. Its activities focus on areas such as energy efficiency, hydrogen solutions, digitalization, recycling, and the circular economy.

Its participation in this European event once again demonstrates its leadership in the energy and sustainable mobility sector, as well as its role as a strategic partner for institutions and companies in the development of innovative solutions. With this top-level event, Aragon reaffirms its technological forefront in the electricity sector, strengthens its commitment to sustainability, and takes a firm step toward European leadership in future mobility.
