An “after-party”, top speakers and its own app: the Government of Aragon raises the stakes for The Wave

The acting Vice President of the Government of Aragon , Mar Vaquero , presented a new edition of The Wave this Tuesday in Madrid , boasting record-breaking figures and significant new features that reinforce the congress’s role as the leading showcase for technology in Aragon. With three weeks to go, the event has already surpassed 5,000 registered participants , far exceeding the 3,000 who attended its first edition.

“This demonstrates the success and momentum of The Wave,” Vaquero emphasized, framing the congress’s growth within the context of the transformation the region is undergoing following the nearly €100 billion in investments attracted to the area since 2023. “It is a clear reflection of the economic, technological, and social transformation that Aragon is experiencing,” he stated.

MAIN NEW FEATURES

Among the main new features, the vice-spokesperson announced an expansion of the event with new spaces and activities. The Wave will take place over three days with distinct areas: two focused on the business sector and a third open to the general public. In addition, a specific space will be set up in the Conference Center, connected to the Bridge Pavilion, to address the rise of data centers, the main driver of technological growth in Aragon.

Another major highlight will be “After Wave,” a more informal format that will extend the congress’s activities after the presentations. “Music, networking, and an open atmosphere for young people will allow us to extend the Congress throughout the three days,” he explained. In terms of content, the event will bring together more than 250 speakers and will feature prominent new figures such as Juan Santamaría ( ACS ) and Carmen Cuadrado ( Shein ), in addition to a closing address by content creator Jordi Wild . An official app will also be launched to facilitate interaction and access to content.

A CONGRESS IN SERVICE OF THE TECHNOLOGY HUB

Vaquero emphasized that The Wave is much more than a one-off event. “It’s that intangible aspect, the value that constitutes the essence of this transformation,” he pointed out, directly linking it to Aragon’s positioning as a technology hub . “Aragon is currently the leading technology hub in Europe,” he affirmed, alluding to the flood of investments, especially those related to data centers and major technology companies like AWS and Microsoft (both present at The Wave), as well as many others such as ACS and Blackstone.

After a first edition that attracted more than 15,000 visitors, the regional government is confident of surpassing that figure in 2026. The presentation in Madrid, the second after the initial one in Aragon, is also part of a national positioning strategy. “We don’t want to compete, but we do want to be included among major technology conferences,” explained a spokesperson, placing The Wave alongside established events in cities like Barcelona, Valencia, and Malaga.
