Aragon continues to experience record tourist figures, with a total of 1,785,185 travellers during this year, 6.5% more than in 2019, the year in which the community recorded the best tourist figures in its history, with 1,675,771 travellers. The community has also improved its figures in terms of overnight stays, with a total of 3,671,084 compared to the 3,429,454 accumulated until June 2019, that is, they have registered an increase of 7%.
These are the latest figures from the Bulletin on Tourism Situation prepared by the Aragonese Institute of Statistics, with data at the end of June, the first of the summer season, in the different categories of accommodation (hotels, campsites, tourist apartments, rural tourism and hostels). Thus, the number of travellers staying in Aragonese hotels amounts to 1,396,362, of which 297,653 are foreigners. In addition, 2,687,209 overnight stays have been recorded in these accommodations, with an average stay of 1.92 days.
A total of 415,696 travellers stayed in hotels in the province of Huesca, with 935,623 overnight stays; 202,664 in the province of Teruel, with 397,885 overnight stays; and 778,004 in the province of Zaragoza (1,353,700 overnight stays). Zaragoza leads the ranking of hotel occupancy, with 584,506 travellers and a market share of almost 42% of the whole of Aragon. It is followed by the Aragonese Pyrenees, with 335,409 travellers in hotels, which represents 24% of the total for the community.
As regards other accommodation, campsites had accumulated a total of 158,028 travellers (388,724 overnight stays) by the end of June, 85,157 in tourist apartments (241,541 overnight stays), 100,175 in rural tourism accommodation (253,496) and 45,463 (100,114) in hostels.
