Spanish ski resorts offer almost 1,000 kilometers of skiable terrain this weekend

The increased thickness of the slopes and the opening of new ones have allowed for a significant increase in the available options.

Ski resorts are heading into the weekend with figures that are making it a great time to hit the mountains. A total of 26 Spanish resorts remain open, offering 994 kilometers of skiable terrain , 110 more than last weekend and the highest figure so far this season.

The increased snow depth and the opening of new slopes have significantly improved the available options. According to the snow report from the Spanish Association of Ski Resorts and Mountain Tourism (Atudem), the largest area is Formigal-Panticosa , in Huesca, with 159 kilometers of slopes and up to three meters of snow depth, followed by the Baqueira Beret resort in Lleida, with another 160 kilometers and a maximum depth of two meters and 20 centimeters.

In the Aragonese Pyrenees, Astún-Candanchú (Huesca), offering 99 kilometers, and Cerler (Huesca), with 71, also stand out. Outside of Aragon, Sierra Nevada (Granada) with 85 kilometers, Masella (Girona) with 74, La Molina (Girona) with 71 and Boí Taüll (Lleida) with 45 complete the list.

In addition, they maintain open slopes at Port Ainé (Lleida), with 27 kilometers; Espot (Lleida), with 25; Alto Campoo (Cantabria), with 18; San Isidro (León), with 16; Valdelinares (Teruel), with 16; Javalambre (Teruel), with 15; and Vallter 2000 (Girona), with 14.

Also receiving skiers are Valgrande-Pajares (Asturias), with 9 kilometers; Núria (Girona), with 8; Valdesquí (Madrid), with 6; Leitariegos (León), with 6; Fuentes de Invierno (Asturias), with 5; Valdezcaray (La Rioja), with 5; Sierra de Béjar (Salamanca), with 1; and Puerto de Navacerrada (Madrid), with 1.

As for cross-country skiing, the following remain open: Lles (Lleida), with 28 kilometers; Llanos del Hospital (Huesca), with 15; and Larra-Belagua (Navarra), with 15.
