Promoting the Garnacha Capital of the World among international journalists. This is the goal of nine press trips in May and June to European and American markets , organized by Zaragoza Turismo, in collaboration with Turespaña and the Government of Aragon.

The first of these will take place from May 5 to 10, with the arrival of a group of American journalists in collaboration with the Spanish Tourism Office (STO) in New York. From May 7 to 11, Zaragoza will host German journalists with the support of the STO in Munich.

This is one of the city’s most ambitious projects, seeking to showcase this offering and attract new tourists by highlighting the province’s winemaking tradition while promoting the city’s monumental, cultural, and culinary heritage. These initiatives aim to position the city in international markets as a benchmark for wine tourism linked to Garnacha.

Also, coinciding with the Garnacha Festival, a group of Italian journalists will arrive in June from June 3rd to 7th, and a second group of Mexican media representatives will arrive from June 2nd to 7th, in collaboration with the OETs of Milan, Rome, and Mexico City. At the end of the month, a group of British journalists will explore Zaragoza in an event promoted in conjunction with the OET of London.

EXCLUSIVE EXPERIENCES IN ZARAGOZA AND PROVINCE

During their stay, journalists will have the opportunity to discover the city’s architectural treasures, such as the Basilica of Our Lady of Pilar, the Cathedral of El Salvador and the Aljafería Palace, where, in addition to its Mudejar legacy, recognized as World Heritage by UNESCO , they will immerse themselves in the work of the Aragonese painter through the exhibition ” Goya, from the Museum to the Palace.”

The trip will conclude with a visit to the newly opened Garnacha Garden, a tour of the Central Market, and a wine and food experience paired with Garnacha, where visitors will learn about the versatility and excellence of this grape variety.

They will then travel through the province to visit wineries in the Calatayud, Campo de Borja, and Cariñena designations of origin, renowned for producing some of the world’s finest Garnacha wines. This variety, considered the fifth most important grape variety internationally , is deeply rooted in the region’s identity, making Zaragoza a key destination for wine lovers.

They will also complement these experiences with visits to cultural and natural spaces in the province, and will continue their food and wine journey through the region with visits to the provinces of Huesca and Teruel.

MORE PRESS TRIPS IN AUTUMN

The international promotion strategy will continue in the fall with new press trips, in collaboration with the OETs in Los Angeles, Warsaw, Brussels, and Lisbon, reinforcing Zaragoza’s presence in key markets and consolidating its image as the World Capital of Garnacha.

With this initiative, Zaragoza Tourism is committed to quality tourism, based on culture, history, and winemaking tradition, to position the city as a global benchmark for wine tourism.  These press trips are the result of close collaboration between Zaragoza Tourism, the Spanish Tourist Offices abroad of Turespaña, and the General Directorate of Tourism and Hospitality of the Government of Aragon.
